2026 Coaches
We are excited to announce our coaching staff for the 2026 season. Glenn Ellis (Coach Coco), a familiar face to many, is returning to the Shockwaves, this time as our Head Coach. We are delighted to welcome back Yaroslava Slobodeniuk (Coach Y) as an assistant coach. We are also proud that former Shockwaves Benjamin (Ben) Vig and Megan Nguyen are returning to the team as assistant coaches this year. We hope to continue the Shockwaves tradition of excellence with our coaches this year!
Coach Glenn is excited to return to the Shockwaves after a 4 year absence. He brings 17 years of
coaching swimmers at various levels and is passionate about helping athletes of
all levels build confidence, and most importantly, have fun while working hard.
Outside of the pool, Coach Coco enjoys bowling and spending time with friends
and family. He loves being part of a positive, team focused environment. His goal
this season is to help every swimmer grow, celebrate progress, and create a
summer full of great memories.
Coach Coco cannot wait to meet the team and make this an amazing summer!
Gooooooo Shockwaves!
Coach Y is from Kyiv, Ukraine and moved to Texas years ago. This will be her fourth season with the Shockwaves. She holds a degree in Physical Education and Sports from the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine. She has worked as a kayak, canoe, and swim coach. She currently works as a paraprofessional with Tomball ISD and she is very excited for the new season.
Coach Megan is excited to be back as a Shockwave, this time as a coach! She grew up swimming for the Shockwaves all the way through her senior year, so she will feel right at home being on deck as a coach. She is currently studying at Baylor, and used to coach at TASC, which means she already knows some of the awesome swimmers on the Shockwaves this season. She loves helping athletes discover what they’re capable of, whether that’s mastering a new skill, dropping time, or simply feeling more confident in the water. She can’t wait for a summer full of fun, fast swims, and great memories!
Coach Benjamin Vig has been a member of Shockwaves swim team since 4th grade. Two years ago he volunteered as a helper to coach 10 and Under swim groups. Last year he was a part time assistant coach and this year he is returning as a full time assistant coach. Benjamin attends Tomball Star Academy where in addition to a High School Diploma he is working towards earning an Associates Degree of Science. He hopes this will help him on the road to a degree in medical field. Benjamin loves spending time with family and friends, playing video games, laser tag and annoying his cats Max and Toby. He is very excited to be a part of the Shockwaves coaching team again this year and is looking forward to a great season!
